About Monique

Monique Pipkin is an evolutionary ecologist, award-winning educator and exhibit designer who is driven to create experiences that inspire curiosity in audiences of all ages.

Monique has partnered with organizations including the LEGO Group to discuss how to build better habitats for birds, the Smithsonian Science Education Center to co-author the Biodiversity! community research guide for students, and the National Park Service with Cabrillo National Monument where she discussed the Nature of Biodiversity and later turned into a trading card. Monique has also been invited to write and speak internationally about Field Safety. Her previously co-authored a popular paper on the topic.

Monique is currently completing her PhD at Cornell University with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. She works in the Maren Vitousek Lab where she studies the evolutionary and functional ecology iridescent feathers, and informal science education. Monique has awarded the prestigious Ford predoctoral Fellowship and Sloan Foundation Scholarship. Her anticipated graduation is in May 2026.
