Monique has partnered with organizations including the LEGO Group to discuss how to build better habitats for birds, the Smithsonian Science Education Center to co-author the Biodiversity! community research guide for students, and the National Park Service with Cabrillo National Monument where she discussed the Nature of Biodiversity and later turned into a trading card. Her previously co-authored a popular paper on the topic. Monique graduated with her PhD in May 2026 and completed her research at Cornell University with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. She worked in the Maren Vitousek Lab where she studied the evolutionary and functional ecology iridescent feathers, and informal science education.
